ONE-TIME Derby County transfer target Ferrie Bodde is in an induced coma in hospital in Holland as he battles pneumonia. The 31-year-old is the head coach at Dutch amateur side sv Wateringse Veld, and a statement on their website read: "Today we received the news that our head coach, Ferrie Bodde, is in hospital with pneumonia. "To fight the bacterial infection and to prevent damage to the organs, it was decided to keep Ferrie in an artificial sleep for several days. "We are obviously very shocked and wish him a speedy recovery." Bodde joined Swansea City in 2007 for £50,000 from ADO Den Haag and helped the club win promotion to the Championship. His displays attracted interest from the Rams, along with the likes of Middlesbrough and Reading, Wigan Athletic and Bolton Wanderers. But a cruciate ligament injury in his left knee virtually ended his Swansea career, despite several attempts at a comeback. After leaving Swansea in the summer of 2012, Bodde was given the chance to train at Wigan by former Swans boss Roberto Martinez but it did not come to anything. Martinez described Bodde as the best player of his generation at Swansea.
