DERBY City Council has seen a 40% increase in people signing up for a controversial brown bin charge.
Before the festive period 3,174 households had signed up for their bins to be collected. Now 4,481 of the 105,000 homes have signed up. Councillor Ranjit Banwait said he was "unsurprised" by the rise.
