A SHOP owner in Derby has removed all the alcohol from his shelves after failing to appear at court for a licensing hearing.
Police say Intars Cervinskis took away all of the bottles that were at the Allenton shop by the time they arrived there on Wednesday.
Earlier that day, his appeal against having his licence revoked by Derby City Council was thrown out when he did not attend the hearing.
He told the Derby Telegraph that he believed the date for the hearing was June 26 not June 5.
Magistrates ordered him to pay £1,000 court costs within 14 days
Sergeant Mark Lomas, from Derbyshire Police's licensing team, went to Inchstores UK Amanda, in Osmaston Road, after Wednesday's hearing.
He said: "By the time I got the shop that afternoon Mr Cervinskis had removed all of the alcohol from his shelves.
"I explained to him the situation and he now understands he will not be able to sell alcohol at the store."
Derby City Council revoked the licence in February following a police visit.
