Trio cut free after car hits bridge on A50

A CHILD, man and a woman had to be rescued from their vehicle after it struck a bridge in Derbyshire. The accident happened on the eastbound A50 at junction two, by the A6 turn off to Alvaston, at 2.50pm today. Firefighters, police and an ambulance were on the scene and crews cut the trio free from the car. A police spokesman said they were then taken to the Royal Derby Hospital as "a precautionary measure". He said: "Their injuries are not believed to be serious." The road did not need to be closed but crews remained at the scene clearing up until after 4.30pm.
