ONLY 14 hours after the teams finished their match at the 3Ws Oval, Derbyshire and Warwickshire were to meet again at the Kensington Oval in the Barbados t20 tournament.
Warwickshire won last night's meeting by four wickets but because Derbyshire's net run-rate was much better than Hampshire and Northants', the Falcons took the fourth semi-final place as the best of the three losing counties.
As the draw worked out, that put them up against Warwickshire again.
Wes Durston, who was the pick of the bowlers last night, had to pull out of the rematch with a sore back. He joins Wayne Madsen (groin), Dan Redfern (finger), Jon Clare (knee), David Wainwright (back) and Tom Knight (shoulder) as the players with niggles that will not be risked at this stage of the pre-season.
Tim Groenewald is to lead a largely inexperienced Falcons side, with young batsman Ben Slater given a chance to impress. Tony Palladino also comes in, with Paul Borrington dropping out. Warwickshire are unchanged.
The winners go through to tonight's final (11.30pm GMT) to face Notts or Yorkshire.
DERBYSHIRE: Godleman, Slater, Hughes, Whiteley, Johnson, Poynton, Burgoyne, Groenewald, Palladino, Turner, Footitt.
WARWICKSHIRE: Chopra, Maddy, Troughton, Clarke, Ambrose, Evans, Javid, Best, Barker, Wright, Hannon-Dalby.
