A BARN fire involving 500 tonnes of hay burned late into last night.
The blaze off the A6096, between the Ockbrook turning and Spondon, started at about 3.50pm yesterday.
It was attended by fire crews from Ascot Drive, Nottingham Road, Kingsway and Ilkeston.
The operation was scaled down by 7pm when two crews left the scene. One crew was still in attendance in the evening.
They attempted to damp down the hay and cool the buildings.
A tractor was used to drag out and turn over hay.
