A SHOPKEEPER was threatened with a knife during a robbery in South Derbyshire.

Two men walked into Yates Convenience Store, in Union Road, Swadlincote, at 8.30pm last night.

One of them produced a knife and the pair then demanded the worker open the till.

They then reached inside and took cash as well as cigarettes.

Investigating officers viewed CCTV of the offence provided by the shop and two men, aged 33 and 24 and both from Newhall, were arrested at a house shortly afterwards.

They are this morning in custody being questioned about the alleged offence.

Inspector Paul Cannon, who is in charge of policing in South Derbyshire, said: "The fact that this shopkeeper was threatened with a knife is of concern to us.

"We have recovered some cash and goods at the house where the two men were arrested."
