DERBYSHIRE County Council has decided that five potential travellers sites it had earmarked in the Derbyshire Dales are all either unsuitable or unavailable.
Its decision to withdraw the five options on land that it owns means that the area's district council will now look at 12 sites it was already in the process of deciding on.
The district authority has a legal obligation to identify a traveller site in the area.
There are four in Ashbourne, two in Darley Dale, and one in Rowsley, Matlock, Homeford, and Northwood.
Those now withdrawn by the county council were in Snelston, Brassington, Wirksworth and Longford, where two were looked at.
