A YOUNG producer from Derby gained "four new uncles" when she worked with rock legends Status Quo on a film about the band's 50-year history.

The film, Hello Quo, shot to number one in the music DVD chart and has catapulted Alexa Morris into the big time.

Littleover-born Alexa, 28, produced the feature-length documentary, directed by Alan Parker, attempting to create a definitive history of the legendary rockers.

She said: "Working with them was amazing. We basically lived in each other's pockets for 14 months and I gained four uncles. They were lovely."

The film charts their hard-rocking years in the 1970s when hits like Caroline and Down Down made them one of the biggest bands in the country .

Alexa said: "You hear all these tales about them when they were younger but seeing Rick Parfitt at his home in Spain with his twins gives you a much different view of them."

And it was not just the Quo who Alexa got to meet, much to the jealousy of her father, George, a teacher at Merrill College.

She said: "We interviewed lots of stars about the band's influence on them.

"I would speak to my dad and he would ask me who I was speaking to and I would say 'oh, we are talking to Brian May or Paul Weller today'.

"He was amazed and would always say 'That's not a job!'. Him and my mum are really proud."

But while Alexa is young, she has been working her way to where she is now for eight years after moving to London when she was just 20.

She said: "I thought about going to university but then decided that I just wanted to go for it.

"I think my parents were a little worried but I was working and getting experience in the industry and then, two years ago, me and Alan started up our company called A Geezer And A Blonde."

Almost immediately, the Quo film came into being and the success of the DVD has exceeded all expectations.

Alexa said: "The premiere was at Leicester Square on October 22.

"It was amazing, we thought we might get one of the cinemas off the square but when they told us it was the main Odeon I was blown away. It was my first real major red-carpet experience and it was fantastic."

And the red carpet may well become a regular occurrence for the former Saint Benedict Catholic School pupil.

Alexa said: "At the moment, we are working with another international band and we have a Hollywood script in the pipeline too, so the future is very exciting."
