MORE than 100 people marched through Ripley on Saturday morning to protest about the possible closure of the town's ambulance station.
It is proposed for closure, along with 15 others, under a wider plan by the East Midlands Ambulance Service to reduce the number of stations across the county and leave two main centres in Chesterfield and Derby, together with a series of "community ambulance posts".
Dennis Skinner, MP for Bolsover, addressed the marchers in the town's Market Place. Consultation on the proposals called Being the Best is due to end on December 17 and a decision will be made early next year.
