THIS picture shows flooded fields in Duffield after the heavy rains during the week.
According to Philip Singleton, an amateur weatherman, in the last five days Derby has had the same amount of rainfall which would usually be expected for the whole of November.
Mr Singleton said: "The low-lying mist in this picture occurs when the ground cools rapidly and the air is moist.
"When it gets to that stage mist forms very quickly, especially when the nights are longer and the temperature falls rapidly."
The county is set to be hit with more heavy rain towards the end of today.
Mr Singleton said: "This could well pose a risk of surface water flooding. But November is usually one of the wettest months and this year it's actually been quite dry up until this point."
The bad weather should clear by tomorrow afternoon.
