A PUB that was closed by health inspectors after a live mouse was spotted on a visit has reopened.
The Steamboat Inn at Sawley was closed by inspectors last Friday after mouse droppings were spotted on plates and next to drinking glasses in the bar.
A Hygiene Emergency Prohibition Notice was served by Erewash Borough Council and subsequently confirmed by Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court and the pub was forced to close.
Now Simon Jones, the owner of the pub, has apologised to customers for the state of the premises.
He said: "I would like to say sorry to the customers for the closure.
"As soon as the notice was served we had specialist pest control contractors at the pub and underwent a deep-clean and the council are now happy for us to open.
"We have also had a new chef along with a brand new menu. "People can come back with every confidence that they will be safe at the Steamboat Inn." Erewash Borough Council were called but were not available for comment.
