BANK holiday revellers are being warned to keep their jumpers and umbrellas to hand as Derbyshire's unseasonably cold August is set to continue.
There should be enough sunshine today and tomorrow to draw in thousands of visitors to a swathe of events across the county.
But Monday is looking less positive, with rain forecast for the whole country.
Among the events hoping for sunshine over the weekend are Draycott Scarecrow Festival, Carsington food fair, and a huge painting exhibition in Ticknall.
Met Office forecaster Dan Williams said the chill would continue across the weekend with temperatures up to 5C lower than usual for this time of year.
He said: "We are getting a band of low pressure from the north. It makes it that much cooler.
"Normally our weather comes from the west or south-west – generally warmer directions."
Mr Williams said that the average temperature for England at this time of year is about 20C.
But he said temperatures in the Derby area today would be 15C or 16C.
He said: "It will be a mixed day but generally not too bad at all.
"There will be some sunny spells but it won't be wall-to-wall blue skies. There is a chance of some showers in the afternoon."
Tomorrow, Mr Williams said Derby should expect "milder" temperatures of up to 17C.
He said: "It looks like being a mainly dry day with sunny spells mainly through the morning."
There is less good news for Bank Holiday Monday in the Derby area with more "long-lasting rain" in the morning across the whole of England.
In the afternoon, people should expect scattered showers with some sunny spells.
Temperatures are likely to be 18C or 19C before "creeping up again" on Tuesday.
Carsington food fair, featuring more than 25 of Derbyshire's leading food and drink producers, will run on Monday from 10am to 4pm.
Draycott Scarecrow Festival will run today, tomorrow, and Monday, from 10am to 5pm.
Trail maps will be available from local pubs and shops.
The exhibition in Ticknall will see more than 1,100 pieces from 200 local artists at the village hall, Ingleby Lane, today from 7.30pm to 10pm, tomorrow, from 8am to 8pm, and Monday, 8am to 5pm.
Other events taking place include a beer and cider festival at The Greyhound, Friar Gate, today, tomorrow, and Monday, 11am to late.
There will be garden games and a barbecue at the Queen's Head pub, Alfreton Road, Little Eaton, on Monday, from 3pm.
There will be heritage train rides along the Ravenstor and Duffield lines, from Wirksworth Station, on all three days from 9.30am to 6pm.
A craft fair will be held in Belper, at Central Methodist Church, Chapel Street, from 11am to 4pm today, 1pm to 4pm tomorrow, and 11am to 4pm on Monday.
