DERBY County have asked to take Stoke City's versatile defender-midfielder Ryan Shotton on loan.
However, it appears Stoke are not keen on a loan deal for the 25-year-old and would prefer to sell him.
Shotton has fallen down the pecking order at Stoke and a number of clubs are thought to be showing an interest including Blackburn, Middlesbrough and Bournemouth.
The player spent the first half of last season on loan at Wigan.
Derby are thought to be close to signing 19-year-old German midfielder Tom Koblenz.
He has been training with the Rams and played for the under-21s against Middlesbrough on Friday night.
Koblenz, who plays in the holding role in midfield, won the Under-19 Bundesliga title last season with Hoffenheim.
