A PERVERT who downloaded more than 100,000 indecent images of children has been jailed for 14 months.
Christopher Caffrey, 30, stored the images, 351 of which were the worst category, on two computers and a hard drive at his Allestree home.
Derby Crown Court heard that some of them were put into files called "Kinder Cutie," "Pre-teen Hardcore" and "Angel Ripper".
They were discovered in his locked bedroom which police had to force open after serving a warrant at the house, in Amber Road.
Alex Wolfsen, prosecuting, told the hearing that Caffrey was a man of previous good character and initially denied the offence after being arrested.
But he pleaded guilty to five counts of possessing indecent images at court.
Recorder Adrian Redgrave told Caffrey: "In total there were more than 100,000 images of children.
"If there were not a market for this sort of material the chances would be far lower that children would be subjected to this sort of abuse."
Mr Wolfsen said police were alerted to Caffrey's IP (individual internet protocol) address in April last year amid reports it was being used to download the indecent images.
They went to his house while he was on holiday.
Mr Wolfsen said: "Police attended his home address and his father was there who was questioned about the matters.They forced their way into the defendant's bedroom, which was locked, and two computers were seized.
"A hard drive, which was under the TV in the living room, was also taken and analysed. It showed that downloading had taken place between March 2007 and April 2013."
Mr Wolfsen said the images were analysed and 351 were of category five; 4,937 of category four; 5,744 were category three; 2,202 were category two and 94,170 images were of category one.
Julie Warburton, for Caffrey, said: "He knows he has brought shame on his family and himself. He even gave up his job to save embarrassment to his employer."
As well as jailing Caffrey to a total of 14 months, Recorder Redgrave put him on the sex offenders' register for 10 years and also issued him with a 10-year sexual offences prevention order.
