PAUL Simpson says he would be delighted to sign a new contract with Derby County.
The backroom team of head coach Steve McClaren, Simpson and Eric Steele are set to be rewarded with fresh deals after leading the Rams to the brink of promotion last season.
The trio, who were appointed at the end of September following the departure of Nigel Clough, have two years left to run on their current contracts.
"There have been talks going on behind the scenes but it's not something I've lost any sleep over," said first-team coach Simpson.
"I'm delighted with where I am and I know I've got two years left on my contract.
"If the club are happy with what we're doing and the manager's happy, then I'd be delighted to stay longer.
"We'll just have to wait and see what happens."
