A CAR has smashed into a house in Alvaston.
Police said the crash happened as thousands of football fans were making their way home from the iPro Stadium following Derby County's 2-1 win over Barnsley.
A spokesman for Derbyshire Police said the crash happened in Harrow Street, off London Road, at 4.59pm.
Police and firefighters are at the scene.
Derby Telegraph picture editor Victoria Wilcox has been to the scene.
She said: "There's quite a lot of structural damage to the house.
"It's a terraced house and a black Mercedes has ploughed straight into the front door."
Next door neighbours Rachel Anthony, 35, and her partner Douglas Bowen, 41, witnessed the crash.
Rachel said: "It happened as all the football traffic was coming past.
"We were sat by the window watching TV when we heard a noise. It sounded like two cars bumping together. We looked out the window and saw a black Mercedes mount the curb.
"It was coming towards us and so we jumped back from the window. We then heard it crash into next door.
"We immediately went out to see if the driver was OK.
"He was about 70 years old and I think he's been taken to hospital."
Rachel said her next door neighbour had not been in at the time of the crash.
She said: "He's since been back to collect his dog, who was the only one in at the time.
"It was really lucky no-one was hurt. There's a lot of fans walk past here after there's been a match at the football stadium."*Did you see the crash? Call us on 01332 253 053.
