A DERBY city councillor has told of his regret at abusive language he used on Facebook, including a number of swear words, after he said his daughter was spat upon and threatened at Derby Bus Station. Joe Naitta, who represents Blagreaves ward, and is also the Liberal Democrat's parliamentary candidate for Derby South, wrote: "Someone had a go at my daughter in town today out waiting for a friend at the bus station, a weasel..and I know who it is.. in the next few days I will be knocking on your door chap.. don't mess with my kids..see you soon. "And who ever reads this post, remember I am a parent first and do give a xxxx about my kids and everyone else's and I will do something about it." In response to one person who criticised him for using this kind of language he said: "You don't know me xxxx I look after my own, that's what makes me a LD." Mr Naitta said the incident with his 14-year-old daughter had taken place at about 4.30pm on Wednesday. He said: "A person came up while she was with a friend and gave her verbal abuse and spat at her in her face." He said she was also threatened. Mr Naitta said he had taken advice from police on what could be done about the incident and would now speak to his daughter before deciding how to proceed. He said: "There's a lot of this stuff going on and it's under-reported. Attention needs to be drawn to it. "Once I put it up I've had a lot of calls of support including from opposition councillors." He said of the wording in his Facebook post: "I will be knocking on their door because I want to speak to his parents. "I want to have a word with his parents and let them know what he's done." Of the abusive language he said he regretted it but added: "How would you like it if it was your daughter?" In a comment on Mr Naitta's Facebook post, one person wrote: "Is that the right way to conduct yourself as a democratically elected cllr?"
