A little piece of Derby has appeared on a London street. A billboard carrying artist Joseph Wright's famous picture The Orrery has gone up in a high-profile location on Edgware Road between Brent Cross and Cricklewood Broadway, north London. The Orrery was chosen as one of 50 masterpieces to be displayed on 22,000 billboards across the UK as part of the country's biggest public art projects. An orrery is a mechanical device that illustrates the relative positions and motions of the planets and moons in the solar system. The full title of the 1776 painting is A Philosopher Giving A Lecture On The Orrery In Which A Lamp Is Put In Place Of The Sun.
