TWO people escaped with only minor injuries after a tyre blow out left their car on its roof.
The pair were travelling on the northbound carriageway between junction 27 and 28 of the M1 when a tyre on their Vauxhall Astra blew out.
The accident forced their car to hit the central reservation before flipping onto its roof just before 12.30pm.
Miraculously the car missed any other vehicles before coming to land in the middle lane.
Both carriageways of the M1 were closed following the accident after emergency services feared the Air Ambulance would need to attend.
Police and ambulance crews arrived at the scene to find both the occupants concious and breathing.
Both carriageways were reopened by 1.30pm and the couple were taken to hospital for checks.
