DERBY County and Burton Albion will both feature in the northern section of the draw for the 2013-14 Capital One Cup.
The Rams are one of 18 northern seeds, with the Brewers among the 18 non-seeds in the same half of the draw, which means they could face each other.
Derby could also meet Accrington Stanley, Bradford City, Bury, Carlisle United, Chesterfield, Fleetwood Town, Hartlepool United, Mansfield Town, Morecambe, Oldham Athletic, Port Vale, Preston North End, Rochdale, Rotherham United, Scunthorpe United, Shrewsbury Town or York City.
Aside from Nigel Clough's side, Burton could face Barnsley, Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool, Bolton Wanderers, Burnley, Crewe Alexandra, Doncaster Rovers, Huddersfield Town, Leeds United, Middlesbrough, Nottingham Forest, Notts County, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, Tranmere Rovers, Walsall or Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Rams have fallen at the first hurdle to lower league opposition in the past four years, losing to Scunthorpe, Shrewsbury, Rotherham and Crewe.
Albion reached the third round last season, knocking out Sheffield United and Leicester City before being beaten by eventual runners-up Bradford.
The draw for the first round will be announced on Monday at 9.30am.
