THE city's much-loved paddling pool attracted the crowds over the bank holiday weekend.
Temperatures reached more than 15 degrees with many families splashing around at Markeaton Park to cool down.
But this was a different sight to the previous bank holiday, at the beginning of May, when children were left disappointed to find that the pool had no water and was lined with a thin layer of muddy slush.
The Derby Telegraph previously reported that the city council had put the pool closure down to "scheduled repair and maintenance".
But yesterday, families say they were "more than satisfied" by the condition of the pool, which opened on Saturday.
Karen Goodwin, 34, of Allenton, took daughter Caitlin, eight, and son James, three, to the park yesterday.
She said the family spent the day at the pool, which she described as "clean" and "tidy".
She said: "It was really packed and full of people at about 2pm.
"We decided to go because it was really good weather and we knew that the pool was open again.
"We were more than satisfied.
"When we got down there we also saw the new pirate ship which the children enjoyed playing on."
Mrs Goodwin said she felt it was important that the pool was kept clean, especially during bank holidays.
She added: "I've been going to Markeaton Park since I was a small child.
"It's a nice tradition and there is nowhere else in Derby to go where there is a paddling pool.
"I had no complaints at all about it. It was really nice, clean and tidy."
Tanya Watkins, 25, of Spondon, also visited the park with her five-year-old daughter, Chloe Ravenhill, and niece Lillie Gasby, also five.
She said: "It was very busy.
"My daughter was on about going to the pool section of the park for ages.
"We found out on Facebook that it had been opened so we went along.
"They both loved it. My daughter was hopping in and out. It was very nice, there were lots of kids playing."
Councillor Martin Repton, cabinet member for leisure, said: "I'm delighted that Markeaton Park, including the paddling pool, has been used so well over the bank holiday.
"Many thousands of people, families and young people, have been in these superb surroundings.
"Over the next couple of years we hope to build and improve Markeaton Park with a £2.5 million cash injection that we have got via the Heritage Lottery Fund."
