THIS team of cheerleaders swept the floor at a national competition, winning 13 trophies.
Derby Diamonds Cheerleading squad competed in the North-East Classic Cheerleading and Dance competition at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle. The event was run by the British Cheerleading Association.
The squad, with girls aged between four and 23, train in a studio on Carrington Street in the city centre. They took home trophies for first place in the junior cheer category, second place in the youth group stunt category and third place in the junior group stunt 2 competition.
Tracey Renton's daughter, Sophie, nine, is one of the cheerleaders who loves performing.Tracey, of Hilton, said: "All the girls have an amazing time practising and performing. And when we go to competitions like this it's amazing when they come away with so many trophies. The standard of squads in the competitions is incredibly high and it shows Derby Diamonds are up there with them.
"We are immensely proud of all the girls and the time and dedication they put in."
