AN entertainment company has backed the Derby Telegraph's Give Us A Break campaign to raise £30,000 for a new minibus.
Derby Cartoon Guests have organised a sponsored walk and a party which aims to raise £1,000, with funds being split with Allenton-based charity Catch Me When I Fall.
One hundred people are expected on the walk, which is 3.9 miles, from Elvaston Castle at 11am to the Navigation Inn, in Alvaston, on Sunday, August 25.
The party starts at 2pm and everybody is welcome.
Kirsty Hanlon, who is a volunteer at Derby Cartoon Guests, will be walking with her four children.
She said: "We're really happy to get behind the campaign and show support for such a good cause.''
Cartoon characters from the company will be joining fellow walkers along the way.
A bouncy castle, disco and games are planned for the party, which kicks off at 2pm.
There are also a number of awards up for grabs with categories including best finishes for the eldest and youngest and a best dressed.
Everybody who takes part will receive a certificate.
Jayne Sloman, of Weston-on-Trent, came up with the idea. The mother of four said: "I was reading the Derby Telegraph and saw the appeal and wanted to do something, so I got in contact with Kirsty.
"My auntie and cousin used to go to the centre and really enjoyed their time there and have some good memories.''
Jayne will be walking with her husband and children.
She said: "We're up for it and it should be a great day.''
Registration for the walk is £5. If you want to take part, call Jayne on 07780855430.
