THE family of a Derbyshire dad taking part in the Boston marathon had to endure an agonising hour-long wait to find out if he had escaped the devastating bomb blasts.
Peter Holton had travelled from his home in Holbrook to take part in the race, along with running partner Adrian Miller, from Egginton.
Father-of-one Peter was only half a mile from the end when two huge explosions erupted, injuring hundreds and leaving three dead.
Wife Carolyn was watching the horrific drama unfold at home. She said: "When I first heard the reports I panicked. I sent Peter a text message but he didn't reply for an hour so it was a horrible wait."
