COOKERY demonstrations are proving there is more to Denby Visitor Centre than merely pottery.

A kitchen theatre at the tourist attraction is currently home to daily cooking sessions.

Celebrity chef Denise Tollyfield took part and baked an Easter orange cake in front of visitors, who were able to try a piece when she had finished.

Afterwards, recipes are made available for anyone inspired to have a go themselves.

The sessions take place about twice a day and are free to attend.

Denby products and the latest cooking equipment are used in the demonstrations.

Most of the equipment used is also on sale in the shop next to the kitchen theatre.

Among those who attended a demonstration was Nicola Carruthers, 54, who was visiting Derbyshire from her home in Cheshire.

The mum-of-three said: "It was the first time I'd been to Denby. I had hoped to go on the tour of the factory but it was closed because we were there on a Saturday.

"But it wasn't a wasted trip. There were some really nice shops and the cooking demonstration was great to watch.

"The cook was quite lively and entertaining and it all tasted great at the end."
