THE family of Derby County legend Dave Mackay say he is "chuffed" to be featuring in a new set of Royal Mail stamps.
Mackay, who was Rams boss when they won the Division One title in 1974-75, is one of 11 footballing greats chosen to mark the 150th anniversary of Association Football rules being established.
The 78-year-old – who also made 145 appearances for the Rams between 1968 and 1971, winning the Second Division title in the process – features on the first class stamps in his Scotland kit.
The Football Heroes stamps were illustrated by artist Andrew Kinsman and also feature England's Jimmy Greaves, John Barnes, Bobby Charlton, Kevin Keegan and Bobby Moore, Wales's John Charles, Scotland's Denis Law and Northern Ireland's George Best.
Mackay's daughter, Val, said: "He's delighted. It's a pretty quirky honour. He's a modest man so I'm not sure he'll be sticking it to any post he sends out!"
Andrew Hammond of Royal Mail said: "The stamps celebrate heroes of the beautiful game who excelled on the pitch and are rightly considered icons of the sport."
