COUNCILLORS have voted to make £26.84 million of budget cuts during a heated meeting of Tory-led Derbyshire County Council in Matlock this afternoon.
They also approved a freeze on increasing council tax - a decision criticised by the opposition Labour group, which said a 2% increase, in line with other authorities, would have generated £5.5 million.
But the Conservative council said it was "proud to have protected people's purse-strings for a third year in a row".
